How We Collect & Process Data

Our proprietary data pipeline runs automated crawlers that query the official Apple App Store and Google Play Store ranking directories at regular hourly intervals. Each crawl captures the current top 200 positions across three chart categories (Grossing, Free, Paid) for every supported country and store combination. This data is timestamped and archived in our database, enabling historical trend analysis over days, weeks, and months.

All ranking data presented on RankFloor is sourced directly from publicly available app store charts. We do not access any private developer accounts, internal Apple or Google APIs, or confidential financial reports. Our service operates entirely on publicly observable market data.

Revenue Estimation Methodology

One of RankFloor's most valued features is our estimated revenue projections. These calculations are based on a statistical power-law distribution model (also known as the Pareto principle). In mobile app markets, revenue concentration follows a predictable pattern: the highest-ranking apps capture a disproportionately large share of total consumer spending, with revenue declining sharply as rank decreases.

Our model calibrates a country-specific revenue baseline (representing the estimated daily earnings of a Rank #1 title) and applies store-specific multipliers to account for the iOS vs Android revenue split in each region. These baselines are periodically recalibrated using publicly available industry reports and third-party market intelligence publications from firms such as Sensor Tower, Data.ai, and Statista.
